Aloha's boat bow-on beneath golden limestone cliffs

Our boat trip starts and finishes at Ċirkewwa, the northern tip of Malta in the locality of Mellieħa. It is the same place the Gozo ferry leaves from, which makes it easy to find, but the terminal area is busy and our boat is not at the ferry quay. This guide tells you exactly where to go.

Where to meet

Head for the Gozo Channel ferry terminal at Ċirkewwa. Near it you will find a small café kiosk. Go down the stairs behind the kiosk to its jetty. That is where we board.

If you reach the ferry car lanes or the ticket booths, you have gone slightly too far towards the ferry. Look for the kiosk and the stairs down to the water.

Getting to Ċirkewwa by car

Ċirkewwa is at the end of the main road north through Mellieħa. Follow the signs for the Gozo ferry. From Sliema or St Julian’s, allow around 40 minutes in normal traffic, and more in the morning rush or on summer weekends, when the road north can back up.

Parking at Ċirkewwa

There is parking around the terminal. Follow the P signs as you arrive. In summer it fills up quickly, particularly in the mornings, because it serves the ferry, the beach at Paradise Bay and divers using the marine park.

A few things to know:

  • Some spaces are reserved for divers. Do not use them unless you are diving, or you risk a ticket.
  • If the main car park is full, there is more roadside parking back along the coast road towards Mellieħa, near Paradise Bay.
  • Parking arrangements can change, so check the signs on the day.

Getting to Ċirkewwa by bus

Ċirkewwa is a terminus for several Malta Public Transport routes:

Route From Notes
41 Valletta Via Birkirkara, Mosta and St Paul’s Bay
42 Valletta A second Valletta route; check which is quicker at your time of day
221 Buġibba Useful from Buġibba, Qawra and St Paul’s Bay
222 Sliema Direct from Sliema along the coast
101 Mġarr / Ġnejna From the west of the island

Journey times vary a lot with traffic, especially in summer. From Valletta or Sliema, allow well over an hour. Check the current timetable on the Malta Public Transport website or in the tallinja app, and aim for a bus that gets you there with time to spare. The Ċirkewwa bus stop is at the terminal, a short walk from our meeting point.

Getting to Ċirkewwa by taxi or ride-hailing

Taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Bolt work well for Ċirkewwa. Ask to be dropped at the Gozo ferry terminal, then walk to the café kiosk and down the stairs. For the return, book a car when you are nearly back, as pick-ups at the terminal can take a while at busy times.

How early to arrive

Aim to be at the meeting point 15 to 20 minutes before departure. That leaves time to check in, use the toilet and get settled before we leave. In July and August, allow extra time for the road and for finding a parking space.

The tour does not include hotel pick-up, so plan your journey in advance.

Facilities at Ċirkewwa

The ferry terminal area has cafés and kiosks where you can buy drinks and snacks before you board, and the terminal building has public facilities. Paradise Bay, a small sandy beach, is a short walk south if you want to swim before or after the trip.

Bring what you need for the day: swimwear, a towel, sun cream, a hat and sunglasses. On board, we provide a welcome drink, snorkels, swim noodles and a stand-up paddleboard. Food is not included, but you can buy it ashore at the Blue Lagoon. See the tour page for the full list.

If you are late or cannot find us

Call us on +356 79628574. Tell us where you are and we will guide you in. If you are stuck in traffic, call as soon as you know. We will tell you honestly whether we can wait. Other guests are on a schedule too, so we cannot hold the boat for long.

After the trip

We come back to the same jetty at Ċirkewwa. If you are going on to Gozo, the ferry terminal is right there. If you are heading back south, the bus stop and taxi pick-up are at the terminal.

Before you go

  • The trip lasts three and a half hours and starts and ends at Ċirkewwa.
  • The order of stops can change with the weather and sea.
  • You only need a Blue Lagoon pass if you want to go ashore there. Swimming from the boat is fine without one. See our Blue Lagoon pass guide.
  • For why we leave from the north, read Comino boat trip from Mellieħa.
